Borșa is a town located in the North of Romania, in the eastern region of Maramureș. The mountains of Maramureș are a part of the Carpathian Mountains. The town is situated at the foot of the mountain Rodna. Borșa lies between 700 and 850 meter above sea level in the Valley of Vișeu, near the Prislop Pass with a height of 1416m, which connects Transylvania to Bukovina, two tourist areas.
Borșa has about 30,000 inhabitants. It has a mountain climate. In the eastern part of the town, a few kilometres from the city centre, is a multi-season tourists complex of great importance for the region, with modern hotels and restaurants.
This area at the foot of the Rodna massif offers plenty of opportunities for hiking and for winter sports. The slopes have varying degrees of difficulty, and even has a ski-jump of 113m.
